We aim to highlight the importance of responsible and sustainable practices in everything we do. We are committed to fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among our staff and guests. Our hotel is Green Key and Sustainable Travel Finland certified, and we work continuously to improve sustainability across all areas of our operations.

Certifications and Commitments

• Green Key is an international eco-label for the tourism industry, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Sustainable Travel Finland is a certification awarded by Visit Finland for responsible tourism.

At RUNO, we strive to offer guests an experience where sustainability is integrated into all operations and is a natural part of daily life. We actively work to prevent and reduce environmental impacts, continuously developing our practices and setting new goals each year. Our workplace is safe, and risk and crisis management are fully incorporated into our operations. We provide ongoing staff training and communicate our sustainability efforts to both employees and guests to increase environmental awareness and engagement.

We are also part of the We Speak Gay initiative, committing to equality, non-discrimination, and safe, inclusive treatment for all. We reject corruption, exploitation, harassment, and abuse of vulnerable groups, including children, teenagers, women, and minorities. In addition, we work to promote social sustainability in our region for the benefit of both our staff and guests.

Environmental Responsibility
Our most direct environmental impacts come from resource use, such as energy and water. We actively aim to reduce consumption, minimize waste, and improve recycling. As a newly renovated hotel, we use energy-efficient and smart building technologies and environmentally friendly products throughout our operations. We regularly measure and monitor water, energy, and waste to track our environmental performance.

Our procurement choices also have significant indirect impacts. We prioritize organic, eco-labeled, and seasonal products and avoid meat, fish, or seafood from endangered or protected species. We minimize food waste, use disposable items only when necessary, and ensure cleaning products, detergents, and paper products are environmentally certified.

Compliance with laws and regulations is the minimum standard for us; we are committed to exceeding current sustainability requirements wherever possible. RUNO Hotel Porvoo aims to be at the forefront of sustainable tourism, inspiring other businesses, guests, and staff to engage in sustainable practices.
